Shawn Spears is back in WWE under the NXT banner.

The former AEW star returned to WWE on Tuesday’s episode of NXT after weeks of teases for the man behind the "Three Faces'' vignette. He ended up attacking Ridge Holland with a chair.

Spears had been with WWE off and on for years as he first signed a developmental deal in 2006 and briefly worked on WWE's ECW brand in 2008 and 2009. He departed in 2019, where he then went to AEW before finishing up last year.

Fightul's Corey Brennan reports he will go by the Spears name for his run and not return as Tye Dillinger. Few people were aware of the surprise return as one star noted it was a "complete shock".

The report noted, “As of 8 pm EST, Spears was not listed on internal documents, nor was anyone else listed for Ridge Holland's promo outside of someone listed at "quote man."

Shawn Michaels filled Spears' role in rehearsals with Holland earlier in the day as one source said that Spears was signed to a deal sometime before the first 'Three Faces' vignettes began to air.

He was hidden backstage before returning. Following his return, Spears was well received by those backstage.
