Seth Rollins goes on epic rant about The Rock's 'gross' return to WWE

The Rock has quickly re-emerged as a prominent name in WWE. The legendary wrestler was recently inserted into a storyline with Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes and Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Originally, it seemed as though The Rock was heading for a WrestleMania main event against Reigns. Yet, that storyline quickly became an issue for the WWE fan base. It would also seem that Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins isn't pleased with The Rock's sudden return to prominence, either. Rollins shared his opinion during a recent appearance on Fox News.

"It’s just what happens when powerful people exert their power," Rollins said (h/t Fightful for the transcription). "They just think they do whatever they want and get away with it, and that sucks. It just sucks. I don’t know any other way to put it. I guess it (resulted) in Cody getting what he wanted. We’ll figure out what’s next for the World Heavyweight title. But Cody said it best. It’s bulls----. It feels pretty gross to me."

Rollins had a similar reaction when CM Punk returned to the company. However, The Rock has quickly put himself in the picture for one of the biggest matches of the year. Except, instead of facing Reigns, there will undoubtedly be a rivalry with either Rollins himself or Rhodes.

A significant part of the WWE is its compelling storylines. WWE brass likely saw the fan pushback online from their decision to push Rhodes out of the Universal Title picture. Now, they're pivoting and finding a way to maximize the interest in The Rock's return to the ring, regardless of who his opponent will be.

However this storyline shakes out, it's going to be a viral sensation. That's what happens when a legend faces off against one of the biggest names in the sport. Rollins has been the "company man" for a while now. Having him be the one to protect WWE's honor against a former star who's coming back from the cold would be fitting. It could also captivate the fan base.

However, The Rock certainly didn't come back to be a secondary act. He's prime-time. WWE will have to find a way of getting him involved against Rhodes. It looks like there's still a lot of twists and turns left in this story.
