CM Punk wanted to be part of the Elimination Chamber, but because of an injury, the WWE superstar settled with an emotional story for fans.

Emotional CM Punk Reflects On Missing Elimination Chamber

At Survivor Series, hell froze over as CM Punk returned to WWE after a decade away. Considering how he left, it seemed unlikely he would ever be back.

Year-after-year there were rumors he might return. They amounted to nothing until he finally put the trunks back on for AEW.

He brought AEW tons of money and attention. Although, he dealt with a few injuries and two suspensions which resulted in his eventual release.

After making peace for a WWE return, he wrestled at one live event and then the Royal Rumble. His entire reason for coming back to WWE was to headline a WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes tossed Punk from the Royal Rumble for the win, but more bad news was to follow. Speculation was Punk had been injured and he confirmed that days after the Royal Rumble match.

He tore his triceps again when taking the Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre. Therefore, he will be out until late summer or early fall.

Plans Changed Quickly

Punk was supposed to be part of the Elimination Chamber. In fact, he was set to win and then challenge Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

As the Elimination Chamber came and went,  Punk took to his Instagram story to express how he was feeling.

“Had a rough day mentally today,” wrote Punk. “My heart and spirit are in Perth.”

“Just a hard day staying positive and nobody wishes I was there performing for the fans more than me. Enjoy the show, appreciate you all.”

Without Punk, WWE needed to make drastic changes to the card. McIntyre actually won the Chamber and now faces Rollins in April.

Seeing how WWE had McIntyre attack an already injured Punk a month ago, a return storyline is already present. Perhaps, McIntyre will even be champion upon Punk’s return.

Although, Punk will once again try to main event WrestleMania next year. He was close this year, but those injures are starting to pile.
