Drew McIntyre continues war of words with CM Punk

Drew McIntyre has made no secret of his distaste for CM Punk. The Scottish Warrior recently escalated his war of words with the WWE star during a recent episode of "The Bump."

“I’m the only one that seems to have a problem with him because he’s been gone, he’s hurt," McIntyre said. "When he was there, there was lots of people with problems with him. But now that he’s not there, I’m the only one keeping his name alive. So that’s why. If he was there, there’s a crap ton of people that have a problem with CM Punk, trust me. Even if they’re not saying it publicly."

Punk has a reputation for being a disruptor. He flamed out of AEW following multiple suspensions for altercations in the locker room. His return to WWE wasn't warmly welcomed by everyone. Seth Rollins made his feelings clear on the situation, both on camera and in multiple interviews.

McIntyre's comments come hot on the heels of a recent promo on Monday Night Raw. During the promo, he told Punk that he "prayed" for his injury to happen at Royal Rumble. When speaking on "West Sport," he detailed why he has such an issue with Punk's return.

"You have to be professionals," McIntyre said. "I don't wish anyone to be hurt, no matter what the personal feelings are, no matter if they are rooted in reality, because they are. You just have to hope everybody is a professional and they understand we're trying to entertain the fans."

Punk will likely share his side of the story in the coming weeks. He's never been one to stay quiet. It's clear there are some real-life issues between the two stars.

Those issues could make for a great storyline in the future. For now, though, it would appear McIntyre is content to keep stoking the flames. It feels like he's testing Punk to see whether he takes the bait. Of course, this could all be a work. It could be the build-up to a Premium Live Event later this year once Punk returns. Hopefully, it's a blend of both. Because when the lines between reality and story get blurred, you get some of the best performances.
