The San Antonio Brahmas had two roster spots available after releasing multiple players as part of the first round of cuts on Sunday. Those spots are now filled, as wide receiver Matt Landers was claimed off waivers on Sunday and the team signed linebacker Tarell Basham on Monday.

Landers was cut by the Arlington Renegades on Sunday. He spent last year in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers before the Renegades signed him in January.

The 24-year-old pass catcher played his first four seasons in college with the Georgia Bulldogs before transferring to Toledo in 2021. He finished his college career with the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2022, grabbing 47 passes for 901 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games.

Basham was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He stepped on the field for the New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans between 2017 and 2022. In 79 career games, he racked up 128 tackles, 11 sacks, seven pass deflections, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

During his college career at Ohio, Basham made 152 tackles, 27 sacks, five pass deflections, five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 50 games. He was named 2016 MAC Defensive Player of the Year award after contributing nine sacks that season.

San Antonio will have eight more players that need to be released by March 23 as part of the UFL’s final roster cutdowns before the regular season begins on March 30.
