Former Celtic striker Robbie Keane scored a screamer in last night’s Soccer Aid match at Old Trafford. The Irishman was back in the Hoops earlier this year but it was for the Rest of the World Team that he showed he could still turn on the style.

Keane was welcomed to Paradise as a hero arriving in a Deadline Day deal back in January 2010. The Irishman repaid the fans with 16 goals in 19 appearances. However, it was not enough to recover ground in the title race or to lift the Scottish Cup, exiting to Ross County in the Semi Final at Hampden. Such was the abject nature of that season that Keane was awarded the Player of the Year accolade by the supporters.

In a career spanning twenty years, Keane scored 325 goals in 737 appearances. Keane has management experience with ATK in India, where he was a player-manager before Assistant Manager roles with the Republic of Ireland and Middlesbrough. Keane, who has obtained his UEFA Pro Licence, has been working for FAI but without a defined role.
