Watch Gianluca Scamacca score the opening goal for Atalanta in the first leg of the Europa League semis against Marseille.

Atalanta took an early lead at the Stade Velodrome on Thursday through Italian striker Scamacca. The ex-Sassuolo and West Ham striker found the net at minute 11 with a right-foot finish from a Teun Koopmeiners assist.

Scamacca is in the form of his life and this was his sixth goal in nine Europa League matches this term. The 25-year-old has now scored nine goals in the last 11 appearances across all competitions for La Dea.

Marseille equalised at minute 20 with a Chancel Mbemba Mangulu shot from outside the box.

As reported by Opta on X, formerly Twitter, Scamacca is the fourth Italian player to score more than five goals in the single edition of the Europa League after Giuseppe Rossi, Mario Balotelli and Ciro Immobile.
