Tottenham Hotspur have linked with a move for the Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez.

The 22-year-old is on the radar of clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United as well, according to Fichajes.

Tottenham already have players like Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies at their disposal. Ryan Sessegnon is on the books as well. It would be quite surprising if they decided to move for another left-back.

Tottenham should look to sign a central defender who will add depth to the squad and allow Ange Postecoglou to rotate players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven often.

There is no doubt that Gutierrez is a quality player and he has proven his quality in La Liga this season. Apart from his ability to nullify the threat from the wide areas, he has contributed with one goal and six assists across all competitions. The 22-year-old is a prodigious talent and he could develop further with gametime and experience. He could develop into a reliable Premier League defender, but a move to Tottenham might not be ideal for him right now.

Udogie is clearly the first-choice left-back at the club right now and Tottenham will not want to block his development by signing another young left-back. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.

Spurs will need to plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and they need to focus on signing a quality central midfielder and a striker as well.
