Reports have begun circulating suggesting that Victor Boniface is a target for AC Milan once again, and now a source in his home country have confirmed the news.

Three days ago, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Milan have Boniface on their list of targets for the centre-forward role, adding that an investment of €45-50m is budgeted for that particular reinforcement.

According to Soccernet in Nigeria, Milan are ‘set to lock horns with several other clubs’ over Boniface, who has been a key part of a Bayer Leverkusen side that have been simply outstanding this season so far.

Boniface joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise for a fee in the region of €20m last summer, with the Bundesliga side beating Milan to his signature, and he has 16 goals (plus eight assists) across all competitions in 2023-24.

The report adds that Juventus are monitoring Boniface’s situation and could try for him if Dusan Vlahovic leaves in the summer, but Milan’s interest has very much remained after last summer’s failure to land him.

Milan’s main target is Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee, as per Soccernet, but they are looking for €75m to sell which could force the management to look for a more cost-effective option.
