Sampdoria coach Pirlo: Inzaghi deserves Salernitana chance

Sampdoria coach Andrea Pirlo is happy seeing Pippo Inzaghi back in Serie A.

Pirlo is pleased for former AC Milan teammate Inzaghi after he took charge of Salernitana.

Salernitana defeated Samp 4-0 in last night's Coppa Italia clash and Pirlo later said: "He is a great coach and I am convinced that very soon they will come out of this ranking situation. The relationship is excellent, you all know that, and it's always a pleasure to meet again.

"I fielded players who played little and I expected them to prove that I was wrong in keeping them out. We were apathetic and weren't able to get into the game, I saw a fearful Sampdoria. I tried to rest some because I have four defenders counted and I can't take risks.

"I also threw Conti into the mix to give him minutes in his legs. But the blanket, somewhere, always remains short. We certainly could have done better."
