In the last few hours a transfer battle has broken out between Almeria and Boca Juniors who both want to sign Luka Romero from AC Milan, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Romero is in constant contact with the Milan management about the idea of going to play with more consistency at another club until the end of the season, having struggled for minutes since joining in the summer on a free.

After having declined an offer from Como, whose head coach Cesc Fabregas really wanted him, he is waiting to understand whether it will be a move to Spain or Argentina that will materialise.

On Tuesday, Almeria presented a written proposal that responds to the conditions set by the Rossoneri: a dry loan until the end of the season, therefore with no option or obligation to buy.

Geoffrey Moncada spoke with an intermediary appointed by Boca Juniors who, however, are insisting on including an option to buy and to keep the player at least until December given their season starts in nine days.

This is why the Spanish club are in pole position, because Milan want to maintain control of the teenager. It is an important demonstration of trust for the winger, who had given his preference to Boca Juniors because it is the team he has supported since he was a child.

Now the Argentine’s agents need to finalise the agreement with Almeria and a decisive turning point is now one step away. Romero would return to Spain, where he played with Real Mallorca.
