Premier League giants Chelsea attempted to lure Darwin Nunez to London in the summer.
The Uruguayan forward, who signed for Liverpool a year ago, did not have the best of seasons.
However, the Blues believed in his ability and attempted to secure him in a cheeky transfer between rivals.
The Times states that Liverpool rebuffed Chelsea director Paul Winstanley.
The latter had been informed that Liverpool may be looking to loan or sell Nunez.
The rumour was not found to have any substance, given the Reds have used Nunez significantly this term.
