Reggina coach Filippo Inzaghi used a recent friendly against Inter as an opportunity to try to convince goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to join the club.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Inzaghi spoke with Nerazzurri club captain Handanovic following Inter’s 2-0 win over Reggina on 22 December, with the goalkeeper yet to decide on his future from next season onward.

Handanovic is out of contract in June and is yet to sign a new deal, with his future in doubt after losing his place as first choice goalkeeper to summer signing Andre Onana.

Reggina are currently on course to secure promotion from Serie B and Inzaghi is keen to add top flight experience to his squad, with Handanovic fitting the bill.

The friendly was arranged during the World Cup break, and saw Reggina coach Filippo come up against brother and Inter tactician Simone, although the impact of the game could now be felt in the transfer market.
