Kylian Mbappé is off to a good start as the France national team captain. Les Bleus  secured a 2-1 win over the Netherlands on Friday at Johan Cruyff Arena. As a result, it punched their ticket to UEFA Euro 2024 next summer.

Furthermore, the road victory over the Dutch allowed the Paris Saint-Germain star to equal a stat only former AC Milan and Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly accomplished in 1999.

Stats Foot pointed out on Twitter that Mbappé has become the first player since Desailly in 1999 to have won each of his first six matches as France National Team captain from kick-off.

Mbappé’s brace against the Netherlands also allowed him to surpass former Juventus star Michel Platini to become France’s fourth-highest all-time goalscorer.

Aside from the wins, the next step for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be to lift trophies. The 24-year-old will have a chance next summer to win a Euro trophy and exercise the demons from the early exit that France had in 2021.
