Manchester City star Matheus Nunes suffers HORROR injury against Copenhagen during Champions League win

Manchester City eased their way past a helpless Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The mid-week clash saw Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Manuel Akanji all get on the scoresheet for the hosts. Even though Copenhagen were laid bere to Manchester City’s destructive brilliance, their pain did not eclipse that of City player Matheus Nunes , who suffered a dislocated finger during the game.

City were spotless in their win against Copenhagen, except for a moment in the 74th minute. The Portuguese player slipped and landed awkwardly on his hand, and was seen writhing in pain moments later. The cameras soon revealed the gruesome state of his finger, which was dislocated out of place. The visuals were too graphic for a few viewers, as Nunes was quickly patched up and subbed off, following the injury.

A fan said on social media that the incident left him traumatized, with many others spamming the ‘puke’ emoji. Nunes was subbed off for Micah Hamilton , as City were comfortably sitting on a two-goal lead by then.

Following yesterday’s win, City became the fourth team to book a spot in the final eight. They joined Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who had qualified earlier on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Man City school opponents in 6-2 aggregate win

Not many would have bet against Pep Guardiola‘s side failing to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League. The defending champions showed just why they are equally motivated to defend their title this season. Already sitting on a 3-1 lead in the first leg, City had little to do on Wednesday night. Guardiola had made seven changes in his squad as compared to the side that beat Manchester United earlier this week.

That being said, City’s brilliance proved to be too much for the visitors, who went behind in the 5th minute from a Manuel Akanji strike. The defender brilliantly met a corner from Julian Alvarez first-time to power the ball past the keeper. Four minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage through Alvarez. The Argentine whipped in a shot from the edge of the box and even though the ball went straight to the keeper, it managed to slip past his grasp and into the back of the net.

Erling Haaland ended the visitors’ misery in the dying minutes of the first half, when the No.9 dispatched a shot from just inside the box. His strike took a significant deflection before making its way firmly into the bottom right corner. Following the win, City have now completed ten games unbeaten.
