Tottenham won 4-0 at Aston Villa on Sunday to significantly boost their chances of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League.
James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-min and Timo Werner all scored in the second half at Villa Park.
Villa played with 10 men from the 65th minute after John McGinn was shown a straight red card for aggressively kicking Destiny Udogie.
McGinn was sent off when Spurs were leading 2-0.
Despite Sunday's defeat, Villa remain in fourth place. However, Spurs are now just two points behind and have played one game fewer than Villa.
Spurs controlled possession in a first half that witnessed very few chances at either end.
The away side were then dealt a big blow when star center-back Micky van de Ven was forced off with an injury four minutes into the second half.
But Tottenham took the lead moments later when Maddison got on the end of a fine cross by Pape Matar Sarr.
It was 2-0 in the 53rd minute when Son set up Johnson to fire past Emiliano Martinez after Dejan Kulusevski had nicked the ball off Youri Tielemans.
McGinn's ugly hack on Udogie was clearly fueled by frustration as he made no attempt to win the ball.

His red card ended hope of a Villa comeback but Unai Emery's men managed to keep the score at 2-0 until added time.
Son scored no.3 in the 91st minute after being teed up by Kulusevski.
The South Korean then provided his second assist of the game as Werner wrapped up Tottenham's biggest win of the Ange Postecoglou era.
HUGE GOAL FOR TOTTENHAM.
