‘It’s a Positive Signal’: Exciting News for Arsenal Fans as ‘Versatile’ Star Nears Full Fitness Ahead of UCL Knockouts

Arsenal have started 2024 off on the right note after securing three consecutive league wins including one over current table toppers, Liverpool. With the UEFA Champions League knockout stages just around the corner, the Gunners have reportedly included their summer acquisition, Jurrien Timber, in their squad for the tournament.

A Positive Signal

Fabrizio Romano reports on the news, saying that it is a positive signal for Mikel Arteta’s side as they aim to compete for trophies in the second half of the ongoing season. However, a clear timeframe for the Dutch international’s return is not known yet.

The transfer insider adds: “Good news that Jurrien Timber has been included in their Champions League squad for the knockout stage. I don’t have precise timing at the moment, but for sure it’s a positive signal. It would be a huge boost for Arsenal, he’s a fantastic player and it would be great to have him back to help in many positions.”

The North Londoners lost the “versatile” defender to an ACL injury in their very first game of the season. The 22-year-old showcased his abilities earlier as Arsenal beat rivals Manchester City to win the Community Shield in August of last year.

However, fans of the club have not seen him in action since and are eagerly waiting for his return to full fitness.

Injuries Hampering Arsenal’s Progress

Apart from Jurrien Timber’s injury, the Gunners have also lost the likes of Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, and Takehiro Tomiyasu to other injuries over the course of the season. Despite this, the North Londoners have enjoyed a successful season, currently vying for the league title with the Reds and the Citizens.

Arsenal’s squad depth this season has also proved to be a key factor in their recent victories with some non-regular starters like Leandro Trossard and Jorginho playing starring roles. With many senior players nearing a return, Arteta and his side would be feeling confident about their chances at winning a trophy this season.
