Italy and former Inter, Manchester City, and Galatasaray coach Roberto Mancini feels that Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are still Inter’s best possible strike partnership.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the coach gave the view that when firing, the pair have a step above Lukaku and Edin Dzeko as a strike pair.

Lukaku and Martinez had formed a very formidable duo in front of goal in their first two seasons together.

Then, Dzeko arrived as Lukaku left in the summer of 2021, adding a different kind of dimension to the Nerazzurri’s attack.

The Bosnian has formed his own kind of partnership with Martinez, whilst the return of Lukaku in the summer has also meant that the Bosnian and the Belgium can link up to lead Inter’s line.

In the view of Mancini, however, there is still no substitute for Martinez and Lukaku.

“Dzeko gives a different kind of movement to the attack and allows Lukaku to play off of him, but in my view, the chemistry between Lukaku and Lautaro gives them something more effective,” he said.
