Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has recalled the moment Ronaldinho smashed up a FRIDGE at Stamford Bridge after his Barcelona side suffered defeat in the Champions League.

Cole was somewhat of a fan favourite during his time at Chelsea. While he was not always able to convince Jose Mourinho of his value, he was one of the most technically gifted Englishmen we’ve seen in recent memory.

The now BT Sport pundit was involved for the Blues during their memorable Champions League triumph over European heavyweights Barcelona in the 2004/05 campaign, during which they won the Premier League.

Appearing as a guest on the The Greatest Game with Jamie Carragher podcast, Cole revealed how football icon Ronaldinho exploded with rage after losing to the Blues.

“I’ve never experienced this, but when Ronaldinho scored that goal, I’ve never seen a stadium…he like paused the stadium, it was unbelievable.”

“Then there was a bit of afters, afterwards, which is always nice in the tunnel.”

“It felt like a Champions League game, but an old school game, like when we first came through. There were mega stars everywhere.”

“Ronaldinho was in it [in the tunnel afterwards], he smashed up the fridge. Ronaldinho was smashing up the fridge. You know me, I was well away, celebrating but there was a little melee.”

“I think it all bubbled from the first leg, with Jose when he was up to his tricks and we lost in the Nou Camp.”

“John Terry won it with a header, that’s the best game I’ve played in. It has everything.”

We do not tend to associate Ronaldinho with having a temper, but he’s one of the greatest players in history, so you can imagine he wasn’t particularly fond of losing football matches.

The poor fridge didn’t deserve to feel the brunt of his anger, though…
