Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard looks like he "really doesn't like his players".

Former Manchester United captain Neville, who played alongside Lampard for England between 1999 and 2007, made the comment while commentating for Sky Sports on Chelsea's game away at Manchester City on Sunday.

Chelsea were losing 1-0 in the first half following an early goal by Julian Alvarez when Neville said: "Every time I look at Frank Lampard's face, he's got the look of a manager who really doesn't like his players."

"Just looking at him you think..."

Neville's long pause was then interrupted by co-commentator Rob Hawthorne, who said: "They won't be his players for much longer."

Neville replied: "No, no. Chelsea need the end of the season, badly. They have needed it for a couple of months."

This was Lampard's ninth game in charge of Chelsea since he was hired on a short-term basis last month.

He had tasted defeat in six of his previous eight games.

Lampard's final two games as interim Blues boss will come next week when his team faces Manchester United away before finishing the season at home against Newcastle.

Former Tottenham managerĀ Mauricio Pochettino is set to replace Lampard on a permanent basis in the summer.
