Frank Lampard admits Chelsea club rivalry will never leave him after infamous incident
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

One of the best things about Monday Night Football on Sky Sports last night wasn’t just Chelsea winning a game, it also featured Blues legend Frank Lampard as a pundit.

It was great to see Lampard back on the screens and talking about Chelsea again, something he could do in a pressure-free way having no employment attachments to the club for once.

EXCLUSIVE! Osimhen keen on PL move and Chelsea interested, Pochettino to move for PL-proven targets and has power going forward, Toney to Chelsea update, Infinite to be sleeve sponsors? And much more….

But Lampard is a Chelsea legend and he will always be fondly remembered by the fans of the club, and when he speaks, they will always listen.

It was very fitting to have him on the show last night and watch Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0, and one of the other pundits on the show bought up one infamous incident from when Lampard was managing Chelsea.

In 2020 Lampard clashed with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the touchline and along with other words, told Klopp to stop giving it ‘the big-un’.

“What I thought was interesting was when you talk about that rivalry between Chelsea and Liverpool,” said Carragher on Sky Sports last night (words cited by HITC). “You actually still took it when you were a manager at Chelsea, didn’t you?!”

Lampard laughed out loud and replied: “Yeah, I did. With Jurgen? It will probably never leave me, I guess.

On if he regrets that: “I regret the language slightly because my daughter was 13, at the time. The next day she was like showing me not to be proud of it. I don’t regret the emotions. But I regret some of the language, at the time.”
