Legendary former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry is a big fan of the work of Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi.

Henry spoke on UK broadcaster Sky Sports, praising the Nerazzurri coach and noting in particular that he is a formidable coach in knockout matches.

Inzaghi has really been starting to gain widespread recognition in recent weeks and months.

Inter’s run to the Champions League final last season certainly played a role on the 47-year-old’s profile increasing.

And this season the Nerazzurri are flying high at the top of the Serie A table. They are currently a whopping fifteen points clear of Juventus at the summit.

Moreover, Inter have been doing so while playing a very stylish brand of football.

The Nerazzurri’s brand of high-tempo counterattacks have made them a fearsome prospect for any opposition, including Italy and Europe’s top teams.

Thierry Henry Full Of Praise For Simone Inzaghi

Asked if there’s a particular coach who he’s a fan of currently, Henry named “Inzaghi.”

“I’ve been following him for a long time,” the Frenchman said.

“Since his Lazio days.”

“He was at one point known as the guy who, if you meet him in a cup game, you’re in trouble,” Henry continued.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona icon noted that “We saw Man City struggle against his Inter Milan and their 5-3-2.”

“What I like is that, where with Conte it was 3-4-3, I like a coach who plays with two centre-forwards,” Henry added.

The Frenchman praised the way that Inzaghi’s system always gives Inter an outlet in possession.

“It can be a 5-3-2 with three Number Sixes,” Henry noted of Inter’s shape under Inzaghi. “But then players like Barella and Mkhitaryan, have to be able to play.”

“And then Lautaro Martinez comes deep to support them in possession.”

“Then Thuram is an outlet. If it’s not Dimarco or Dumfries or Darmian, he’s running the channels.”

“There are a couple goals this season, against Milan at home and Juve away. Thuram is on his bike.”

“If you have one striker and two wingers staying wide, he can only hold it up,” Henry observed.
