Former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has announced his retirement.

His contract with Watford expired yesterday and now Cleverley has announced he's hanging up the boots.

The decision comes as a result of the many injuries that have plagued the midfielder in recent season.

Last season, Cleverley was out for 29 games with an Achilles tendon injury.

Cleverley began his career at United, where he joined the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson, after which he later moved to Everton in 2015.

In 2017, he went south to Watford. There he played 181 games, where he later became club captain.
