Former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has recalled turning down Manchester City.
Barcelona were close to signing the Dane, who had agreed personal terms with the Catalans.
Agger told Offside, "It's a long story, but if I have to make it short, I had actually signed with Barcelona.
"But before it was all published and all these things, another club entered the picture and put in even more money.
"Liverpool obviously think it was a good thing. It was Manchester City.
"Liverpool say it's fine. City will pay this, but then I say it's not going to happen. I'm not going to play for them.
"It's Barcelona, otherwise I'll stay."
Agger, now coach of HB Koge, subsequently explained that Liverpool returned to Barcelona with higher demands, and then the deal fell through.
