Ex-Italy & Juventus Coach Identifies Inter Milan & AC Milan As Scudetto Favorites: 'They Have Something Extra'

Former Italy coach Marcello Lippi pinpoints Inter Milan and their crosstown rivals AC Milan as the two favorites to clinch the Scudetto title.

The two Milanese rivals are off to a great start. Both clubs currently enjoy a perfect record after three rounds.

This sets up a much-anticipated Derby della Madonnina straight after the international break.

Both clubs underwent a squad overhaul during the summer transfer session. But based on the initial signs, the changes are paying dividends.

According to Lippi, the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri are the two best-equipped sides to win the league this season.

“Our league remains a very competitive competition,” said the 2006 World Cup winning manager in an interview with Calcio Saudi via TuttoMercatoWeb.

“At the moment I see Inter and Milan doing really well. The Milanese are showing that they have something extra.

“In my opinion, they will be fighting for the title,” concluded the former Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan coach.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are now leading the Serie A table with nine points each.

Both clubs are gunning for a 20th Scudetto title which would unlock the second golden star.

Inter Milan last won the league in 2020/21 under the guidance of Antonio Conte. His successor  Simone Inzaghi has proven to be a cup expert, but the Scudetto eluded him on his first two attempts.
