Have the comments made by Trent Alexander-Arnold in Four Four Two magazine added fuel to Manchester City’s fire for Sunday’s clash with Liverpool at Anfield? His view on City and Liverpool’s success may serve as extra motivation for the world champions on Sunday.

The comments made by the England international have dominated the headlines since they were published in Four Four Two. Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland have both since responded to Alexander-Arnold’s view which has added an extra layer to the build-up to the massive Premier League fixture.

Both teams will be highly motivated for a victory at Anfield. Given the importance of the fixture, both teams will be desperate for three points. Given past meetings between the two teams it will be no doubt be a close game. The final result could be decided by fine margins. Such is the level of play when Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s sides meet.

Both teams will be looking for any advantage they can find on the pitch on Sunday. But the comments from Liverpool’s right-back may have added fuel to Manchester City’s fire. The world champions will be highly motivated for this weekend’s match as it is as they chase a fourth consecutive Premier League title. They may find extra motivation from the comments made by Alexander-Arnold.

We may never know if Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City squad use Alexander-Arnold’s comments as extra motivation on Sunday. The City boss and his team will likely never publicly admit if they had used them to inspire them. But adding fuel to Manchester City’s fire is never a good idea given the levels of motivation already in the City squad.
