Cristiano Ronaldo trains with Manchester United, may play Saturday vs. Newcastle

Manchester United received a boost last week when superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was released by the Portugal national team six days earlier than scheduled after he was suspended for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan because of yellow-card accumulation.

United shared on Tuesday that Ronaldo was back training with the team, and it's assumed the 36-year-old will be available for selection for his club and ahead of Saturday's matchup versus Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

"With challenges to come at home and abroad in the near future, including Saturday's Premier League match against Newcastle and next Tuesday's start of the Champions League at Young Boys, it is hoped the striker will be ready to assist the side and begin to have an immediate impact in his second spell at the club," United said of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo first featured for United from 2003 through 2009 and officially rejoined the club from Serie A outfit Juventus before the summer transfer window closed on Aug. 31. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner made history last Wednesday by surpassing Iran's Ali Daei and becoming the highest-scoring international men's footballer in history.
