Antonio Conte has been linked to Napoli in recent weeks, but Chelsea have started courting him ahead of a potential return. They are leaning toward sacking Mauricio Pochettino following a disappointing season, La Repubblica informs.

The parties have been in touch as of late, and the gaffer is thinking about it. His primary intention is to be back in Serie A. He’d take over Milan if it were up to him, but they have different plans, at least for now. He’d have to embrace financial sustainability and working with the youngsters to become a realistic option for the Rossoneri.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly sent his proposal to Conte and is waiting for a response. He has proposed a conspicuous offer and promised an ambitious reinforcement campaign.

The Italian boss won the Premier League with the Blues back in 2016/2017 in his first season at the helm. They finished 5th the following campaign. The relationship ended with a messy divorce, although the club was owned by Roman Abramovich at the time. He has helmed Inter and Tottenham for two years each afterward.

Money and transfer market requests wouldn’t be a problem if he went back to London. The slate has probably been wiped clean after the past issues given the different brass. He seems to be chomping at the bit to return to the bench, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he took a job even if it wasn’t totally ideal for him.
