Inter want five forwards for the new season and a duel is seemingly brewing between Alexis Sanchez and Valentin Carboni for the last spot, reports detail.

The Nerazzurri are gearing up for an even busier season than usual as they’ve already booked their spot in next summer’s revamped Club World Cup, a one-month tournament featuring 32 teams in June and July.

Considering Inter will be competing on four fronts next season, the club’s management are keen to ensure Simone Inzaghi as enough options across the squad, wanting five centre forwards. Four have already been decided – Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi.

As detailed by Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Inter will soon have to choose between offering Alexis Sanchez a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of June, or bringing back Carboni, who has shown some positive signs at Monza this term.

The Chilean veteran has recently started to find his form under Inzaghi, scoring once and providing three assists in the last three league matches, whilst the 19-year-old has started to emerge with the Biancorossi, netting twice across 20 league matches.

Inter would be open to selling Carboni for around €25m but will bring him back in the summer if no convincing offers arrive. Whether he stays or not depends on their decision on Alexis Sanchez.
