AC Milan are very much in the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer but they face competition from Arsenal, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting that Arsenal sent a scout to Italy on Saturday evening, more specifically to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to follow Bologna’s match against Monza so they could watch Zirkzee up close.

Bologna’s CEO Claudio Fenucci made it clear what the club’s wish is regarding the Dutch striker, stating: “We would like to keep everyone in red and blue, which is their colour.”

The former Bayern Munich striker, however, will be the prized piece of the summer transfer window, with many teams having already established themselves as contenders to land him.

Milan have been on his trail for months as per the paper and as Pietro Mazzara reported earlier, while in recent weeks Juventus have also joined the race.

Bologna will try to keep him, especially if they qualify for the next Champions League, but if an offer of €60m comes in they will ‘hardly be able to say no’.
