Bayern Munich Test the Waters for Juventus Goalkeeper

Inter could find an unusual ally in their attempt to sign Yann Sommer, as Bayern Munich have inquired about Wojciech Szczesny as a replacement since Manuel Neuer is facing an uncertain timetable following a leg fracture.

According to Calciomercato, the Bavarian gathered intel on the Pole. He recently got a year added to his contract, which now runs until 2025. He announced that he planned to see it out and therefore stay at Juventus for the next two seasons.

Despite rumors about different goalies, Inter is hell-bent on signing Sommer, and Bayern Munich acquiring Szczesny would unlock his departure. However, it remains to be seen how much money the Bianconeri would demand.

The Bundesliga powerhouse reportedly put forth a bid to onboard Georgi Mamardashvili. However, they have been unable to bend Valencia’s resistance so far, Sky Sport Deutschland reports (via OneFootball)

Our take on Szczesny, Bayern Munich, and Juventus

Big teams tend to do favors to each other, and the list of deals between the two sides is pretty long. While still very reliable, somebody within the Bianconeri’s hierarchy probably wouldn’t mind selling him for financial reasons considering his age and wages, especially if they were content with promoting Mattia Perin. But it’s hard to imagine he’d accept a destination where he wouldn’t be the unquestioned starter.
