Wild place veteran forward Victor Rask on waivers

This move comes as the Wild are adding some youthful energy to their team. On Tuesday, top prospects Marco Rossi and Matt Boldy were recalled from the minors and were present at the team’s practice.

Rask has been in and out of the lineup this season as he’s been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions. Through 21 games, Rask has four goals and 10 points while logging 11:20 per game.

The Wild originally acquired Rask from the Carolina Hurricanes in a one-for-one swap for Nino Niederreiter. While Rask was a productive player in Carolina, he’s never been able to find the same success with the Wild. In 141 games over parts of four seasons in Minnesota, Rask has just 21 goals and 49 points.

Rask carries a cap hit of $4 million and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. The Wild can save $1.125 million with Rask in the minors as a buried cap hit, assuming he clears waivers.
