Pitlick and Smith were previously placed on waivers and went unclaimed; the Penguins recalled them and a few other names specifically for their most recent preseason game.
Poulin and Puustinen had been regular faces throughout camp and were setting themselves apart as key prospects; they should get a cut at the NHL as mid-season call-ups.
With these new subtractions, the Penguins are down to 36 players on their training camp roster, five of which are injured.
Three more will be taken off soon as they Penguins placed Alex Nylander, Joona Koppanen, and Andreas Johnsson on waivers.
New president and general manager Kyle Dubas brought a ton of new faces to the Penguins to not only make a stronger NHL roster, but also improve the WBS organization.
