2020: Dominik Kubalik, Jonathan Toews Put on a Show in Toronto

On January 18, 2020, Dominik Kubalik and Jonathan Toews each scored two goals in the Blackhawks' 6-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kubalik's second goal was a highlight-reel moment as he batted a pass from Toews out of mid-air and into the net. The impressive tally gave Kubalik 20 goals for his rookie season.

Along with his two markers, Toews dished two assists to lead all skaters with four points.

Notable Blackhawks Birthdays

Ryan Carpenter, a journeyman NHL forward, was born on January 18, 1991. Carpenter spent parts of three seasons with the Blackhawks and notched 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 168 regular-season games. He added one assist in nine playoff games.

Ian Mitchell , a second-round pick of the Blackhawks in the 2017 NHL Draft, was born on January 18, 1999. Mitchell never panned out the way the Blackhawks hoped, posting 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in 82 games across parts of three seasons in Chicago. The Blackhawks traded Mitchell to the Boston Bruins in a June 2023 deal that fetched Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall.
