Montreal Canadiens’ Joel Armia Nominated For Bill Masterton Trophy
David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports

The NHL announced their list this morning for each team’s nomination for the Bill Masterton Trophy, and for the Montreal Canadiens, their nominee will be Joel Armia. The 30-year-old winger has certainly had an up-and-down year this season in Montreal. Prior to the season beginning, he was waived by the Canadiens and would go unclaimed and was sent down to the Laval Rocket to begin the season, where he would spend the first four games with the Rocket while putting up five points, which earned him a call-up back to the Canadiens, but after just six games with the Habs, he would go back to the Rocket where he would spend four games putting up four points in four games before once again heading back up to the Canadiens on November 24th and has since been with the big club up in Montreal and has put up 15 goals and six assists for 21 points in 53 games since his November call-up including five goals in his last five games with the Habs.

The former first-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres has played 498 games in the NHL, scoring 91 goals and 84 assists for 175 points in his time with the Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, and Montreal Canadiens. He is on track to play in his 500th career game on Sunday at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers. Armia still has one year left on his four-year, $13.6 million deal that he signed with the Habs back in July 2021.
