Flyers' Keith Yandle ties NHL 'Iron Man' record with 964th straight game

Keith Yandle came on to the ice early in the first period of the Philadelphia Flyers' game against the Dallas Stars on Monday night, making it the 964th consecutive NHL regular season game he's played, tying the league record.

Now Yandle is set to become the NHL's new "Iron Man" when the Flyers play against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Yandle, 35, began his streak in March 2009 during his third season in the NHL. He played for the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes until 2015 when he was traded to the New York Rangers. Yandle played for the Rangers for about a year before was traded to the Florida Panthers ahead of free agency. In July 2021, Yandle joined the Flyers on a one-year deal.

The record has been held by Doug Jarvis for more than three decades. He set the mark during his career with the Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals, and Hartford Whalers, beginning in 1975 until he was scratched from a game in 1987.
