Utah Extends Offer to Oregon State Transfer Jermod McCoy
USA TODAY Sports

The Utes have reached out to Oregon State freshman transfer Jermod McCoy to fill a big roster need after the recent outgoings at cornerback.

The Whitehouse, Texas product was a three-star recruit coming out of high school but is now considered a four-star athlete after his freshman season according to 247sports.

In his first and only season with the Beavers, McCoy recorded 31 total tackles, 7 passes defended, and 2 interceptions. The 6'0" 180-pound CB has drawn comparisons to Clark Phillips from some Utah fans which is high praise considering Phillips ended up as a fourth-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons.

McCoy announced the offer on December 6th in a post on X thanking the program and Sharreiff Shah.

If the Utes can manage to get McCoy in the red and black it would be a massive addition to a roster that needs young and electric play out wide, especially going into uncharted territory in the Big 12. Now, this surely won't be the last time the program goes fishing in the portal but it is a good sign of things to come (especially if McCoy signs) and gives fans a hint into the type of players they want to target.
