Steelers GM Omar Khan explains how he went from having ‘full faith’ in Kenny Pickett to trading him

"Things just kind of evolved," Steelers GM Omar Khan told the media at the league owners' meetings in Orlando this week. "I couldn't really have foreseen that things would go the way they did at the time. But I do have a lot of respect for Kenny. I think he's a good football player and got a good future."

Here's the thing, just because Khan said he had 'full faith' in Kenny Pickett doesn't mean that the rest of the Steelers organization did, or that he wasn't bending the truth. 

Teams that truly have faith in their QBs don't add former Super Bowl champion's aiming to get their career back on track like Russell Wilson, or make active calls on QBs looking for a fresh start like Justin Fields. 

The truth is, this was likely a long time coming. When Kenny Pickett didn't get his job back from Mason Rudolph after being cleared from injury, the writing was on the wall, whether it was fair or not. 

And I get it, things change fast in both in life and football. But you don't go from having "full faith" in a QB to trading him in less than a month without any games being played.
