Although at the surface he may appear to be a soft-spoken man, New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles let his team have it after New York's 24-17 loss Sunday against the Texans.
"Coach Todd, after the game, went off on us and told us, 'Losing is not acceptable,'" Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson said on Tuesday. "He doesn't like losing, as well. I'm pretty sure that everybody in the locker room definitely needs to have that spark lit under them this week, and we need to get these wins rolling quickly."
Bowles hinted at his anger in his Sunday post-game press conference, but the first-year head coach remained composed in front of the media.
In front of his team, behind closed doors, however, Wilkerson says Bowles has a different side to him.
"He's an emotional guy," Wilkerson said. "He yells at us when things are not going as they should on the field and they're not looking the way he expects it to be. He definitely gets on us."
The Jets are 5-5 on the season and have a pivotal divisional matchup this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
