Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown believes ‘sky is the limit’ for Jameson Williams

The Detroit Lions had the sixth-ranked passing offense in the NFL in 2022.

And if you ask Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit’s passing attack could be even scarier next season, especially if second-year receiver Jameson Williams plays up to his potential as the No. 12 overall pick in last year’s draft.

"I can't wait to see Jamo fully getting a whole offseason under his belt, being able to work with all of us," St. Brown told reporters on Monday. "I can't wait to see what he does. I've seen it in practice. I know what he can do. … I think the sky's the limit for him. I know he's for sure going to stretch that defense so hopefully underneath routes will be much more open, but I can't wait to see what he does on the field."

Williams played in just six games during his rookie season after coming back from a torn ACL. He had only one reception on nine targets, but that lone catch was a 41-yard touchdown and showcased the kind of playmaking ability that had scouts salivating during his time at Alabama, where he caught 79 passes for 1,572 yards and 19 touchdowns during his final season in Tuscaloosa.

If Williams can find his Crimson Tide form, he and St. Brown, who registered 106 receptions, 1,161 yards and six touchdowns last season, could form one of the top WR tandems in the NFL.

And if quarterback Jared Goff plays like he did in 2022 (4,438 yards, 29 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 99.3 passer rating), then the Lions passing game suddenly is one of the most feared in the NFL.

"Obviously, you want to be No. 1 in every (offensive) category, so I think that's what we're striving for as an offense,” St. Brown added. “Obviously, No. 1 in total yards per game, total scoring offense — we want to be No. 1 in all those categories. … I think that's everyone's goal on offense because we know we can do it."
