Latest update suggests Jeremy Reaves could be out for season
Brent Skeen-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Commanders not only suffered an embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears last Thursday, but they also lost two of their safeties. Starter Darrick Forrest was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, special teams captain Jeremy Reaves is going on IR with a knee injury.

There is hope that Forrest will return after sitting out the required four weeks. However, the prognosis may be more severe for Reaves.

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the All-Pro special teamer suffered a partially torn ACL and could miss the rest of the season.

Reaves will get additional medical opinions before making a decision.

On Monday, after Washington’s head coach Ron Rivera announced the injuries, Jeremy Reaves posted on Twitter he would be back “real soon.”

But there was no indication by him of the exact timetable. Rivera called the loss of Reaves “a big blow” for the Commanders, per John Keim of ESPN.

Reaves has been with the Commanders since 2018 after going undrafted out of South Alabama. He battled his way through training camps but didn’t make the initial 53-man roster until the 2022 season when he earned All-Pro honors on special teams.
