King of Props: Breakout big brother

Over the first two weeks of the NFL season, no receiver was hotter than the Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown. He saw a dozen targets in each game and totaled 17 catches for 180 yards and three touchdowns, delivering a winner for us in the process. But football aficionados know that he was preceded in the league by a sibling who plays the same position, and big brother deserves to be backed for our top prop:

The bet: Over 1½ receptions for Bears wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (DraftKings)

A month removed from his 26th birthday, the elder St. Brown played his first three seasons with the Packers after being drafted in the sixth round out of Notre Dame. His career-best performance came against the Jets in the last game of his rookie year, when he caught five passes for 94 yards.

St. Brown was only an occasional starter for Green Bay but has earned much more playing time in Chicago, starting all seven games for the division-rival Bears this season. In the most recent one, a 33-14 victory over the Patriots on Monday night, he set season highs for targets (7), receptions (4), and yards (48).

Today’s opponent is the 5-2 Cowboys, who have been installed as 10-point home favorites. Second-year Bears quarterback Justin Fields is being allowed to throw more often – he has topped 20 attempts and 10 completions in four straight games – and the numbers will only increase if he’s playing from behind.

Connecting with a starting wideout just twice should be cake.
