Based on their latest move, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be gearing up for a bad scenario entering Week 17 vs. the Carolina Panthers.
Last week, when it was thought that Trevor Lawrence might not be able to go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to being in concussion protocol, the Jaguars scoured the waiver wire and practice squads throughout the league for an emergency quarterback to play behind C.J. Beathard and Logan Cooke.
This week, they are in the same boat. Lawrence may be playing too hurt, which is only making things worse. Now, he has a sprained shoulder, and it is unclear if he will play against one of the worst teams in the league this Sunday.
This bad scenario we are speaking of is potentially playing against the Panthers with Beathard at QB. This game is very winnable, even with Beathard starting, if that were going to be the case; however, with the way this team has been playing, you can't say for sure they will beat the Panthers.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars signed veteran QB Matt Barkley off of the Giants practice squad. Barkley has played in 19 games in his six-year career. He has 2,699 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, and 22 interceptions in his career.
We have signed QB Matt Barkley to the active roster from the New York Giants practice squad.
