'Huge' news: Eagles to meet with small-school DT prospect

NFL teams are now allowed to hold official meetings with up to 30 draft prospects. According to The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler, one of the prospects Philadelphia will meet with isn't a big name, but he is a very big man.

Brodric Martin is a 6-foot-5, 337-pound defensive tackle from Western Kentucky. He spent two years in the FCS with North Alabama before joining the Hilltoppers in 2021.

Over the past two seasons, Martin had just 62 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble. Those numbers didn’t earn him a trip to the scouting combine, but he was asked to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.

Before the game, NFL Network’s Chad Reuter singled out Martin -- who's considered a day 3 pick -- as a player to watch. The big tackle didn’t disappoint. Martin had no problem stuffing the run or collapsing the pocket.

Thanks to a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia has two seventh-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. If Martin is still on the board at No. 219, the Eagles could take him.

With defensive lineman Fletcher Cox, Linval Joseph and Javon Hargrave about to hit free agency, Philadelphia has a big need at defensive tackle. Last year, the team used a first-round pick on 6-foot-6, 335-pound defensive tackle Jordan Davis from Georgia.
