Four players available for the New England Patriots on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft

The New England Patriots have finished Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft, adding a receiver and an offensive tackle to the mix. 

But at this moment, they still have five picks remaining on Day 3. And there are plenty of solid options remaining. While they could always use some additional help on defense, the offense is the main focus in this draft, and there are some solid weapons that haven't been picked up yet. 

Here are four players that the Patriots could target on Saturday. 

UNC WR Devontez Walker

It could be a reunion in New England for Drake Maye and Devontez Walker. Why not give the new Patriots quarterback one of his weapons from college to learn the ropes with. Both are comfortable playing together, so it would make their transition into the pros much easier. 

Walker has the ability to make some big plays, which is something the Patriots have been lacking for the past few years. Similar to what fans saw with DeMario Douglas last season, a spark on offense with just one play like that can do a lot. 

So if that's what he's known for, add him into the receiver room and let him develop in New England. 

Oregon WR Troy Franklin 

Speed. 

That is something that Troy Franklin can use to his advantage. He has the ability to get past DBs and create opportunities from some big plays. He can also use that to separate himself from defenders off the line, and then once again after the catch to gain some extra yards on plays. 

Physicality is one area where he is lacking and could be the reason some teams are hesitant to draft him. But with the Patriots having so many veteran and young receivers in the room, it's an opportunity for Franklin to grow and learn the ways of the NFL. 

UFC WR Javon Baker

The Patriots had a top-30 visit with Baker after he came off his best season in 2023, finishing with 52 receptions for 1,139 yards and seven touchdown. He was named first-team All-Big 12.

In his three prior seasons, he had a total of six touchdowns total. So he truly showed teams what he is capable of heading into the most important time of his career.

Baker ran a 4.54 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, proving that he has the ability to get down the field. He is also known for being able to make some tough catches, so this is someone to watch out for on Saturday. 

Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders

Following the NFL Combine, A to Z Sports ranked the top 10 tight ends heading into the draft. While it's no surprise that Georgia's Brock Bowers was at the top of the list, Texas' Ja'Tavion Sanders was in second. 

And heading into Day 3 of the draft, he is still available. 

He ran a 4.69-second forty at the combine, showing that he has a good blend of size, speed and run after catch ability. 

Putting him in a room with experienced and successful veterans such as Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper could prove to be very beneficial for Sanders and turn him into a quality starter in no time.
