Ex-Jaguars DL Rashod Berry Suspended by NFL For Gambling Violations
USA TODAY Sports

Four players were suspended by the NFL this week for gambling violations, including former Jacksonville Jaguars -- and now Ex-Indianapolis Colts -- defensive lineman Rashod Berry.

Berry, Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers and free agent Demetrius Taylor were all suspended by the NFL for betting on NFL games in 2022. The Colts responded by waiving both Rodgers and Berry.

The Colts signed Berry off the Jaguars' practice squad on Jan. 4, with Berry spending training camp with the Jaguars and then spending time with the Jaguars on their practice squad from Oct. 12 to Jan. 4. Berry never appeared in a regular-season game for the Jaguars.

Each of these players may petition for reinstatement at the conclusion of the 2023 season.

In addition, Nicholas Petit-Frere of the Tennessee Titans is suspended for the team’s first six regular season games of the 2023 season for betting on non-NFL sports at the club facility. He is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason activities, including preseason games.

"The gambling policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, including players, prohibits anyone in the NFL from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility," the NFL said in a release.

Gambling has become a hot-button topic in the NFL over the past two offseasons, with Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley spending the 2022 season suspended for gambling violations. Detroit Lions wide receiver and first-round pick Jameson Williams is also facing a suspension for gambling violations.
