Detroit Lions NFC Championship Thursday Injury Report

The Detroit Lions could get a key piece of their pass-rush back in the form of outside linebacker James Houston. 

The second-year rusher has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury. He was returned to the active roster last week, but was inactive for the Lions' Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Houston made a huge statement during the 2022 season's final seven games, finishing with eight sacks in that span. However, his ankle injury this year forced him to injured reserve for most of the regular season. 

"Well, here's the good thing about Houston," said defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. "This whole offseason, he's learned different moves other than just being able to bend around the corner. I think we're all looking forward to seeing the different techniques he has as far as being a pass-rusher." 

Tight end Sam LaPorta returned to practice Thursday after being listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's estimated practice report. He has played each of the last two games after suffering a hyperextended knee against Minnesota in the regular season finale. 

Linebacker Alex Anzalone has also remained active despite dealing with three fractured ribs. 

Four Lions were listed as non-participants in practice Thursday: Kalif Raymond, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow and Chase Lucas.
