Davis' Care For His Players Evident in Text to Jones
USA TODAY Sports

The latest chapter of Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Chandler Jones' ongoing situation with the Raiders organization took place Sunday morning.

Jones posted a text exchange between himself and Raiders owner Mark Davis on his Instagram story, which highlighted Davis' care and consideration for the players on his team.

The dates of the text messages are unknown, but it's clear the post holds relevance to the current saga that has unfolded.

In the post, Davis had texted the following message:

"Chandler.. The Raiders Are The Most Important Thing In My Life.. The Most Valuable Asset The Raiders Have Are It's Alumni. It's Their Blood Sweat And Tears Which Made It Possible For This Organization's Iconic Image.. For The New Offices.. Practice Facility. And Stadium That Current And Future Raiders Will Play In. Once A Raider. Always A Raider Is Not An Idle Statement.. I Care For You The Person More Than I Care For You The Player.. I'm Here For You Should You Feel The Need To Talk.. Man To Man.. With Respect.. -MD-."

With his personal caption to the post, Jones wrote, "Y'ALL ASK EM IF I CAN PLAY."

Jones missed the Raiders' Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practices due to "personal reasons" and did not play in the team's Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Jones' complaints began Tuesday when he expressed remarks of disdain towards Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler on social media after he was unable to work out in the club's facility the prior weekend.

Davis has shown concern for his players in the past, even if they have already moved on from the organization.

Former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was pleased with the closure he got with the owner when the two talked at former Raider tight end Darren Waller's wedding, a story Carr told on the Harvester Sports Podcast back in March.

The Silver and Black remain on the road next week as they travel to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:00 p.m. PDT.
