Dallas Cowboys Set To Sign Help At Offensive Tackle After Losing Tyron Smith
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are set to sign a key depth piece for the upcoming season at offensive tackle. The Cowboys need help at offensive tackle after losing star left tackle Tyron Smith to the New York Jets in free agency last month.

The Dallas Cowboys lost a key OL in Tyron Smith

The Cowboys have been quiet in free agency this offseason. While publicly claiming they were all in on the 2024 season, the team didn’t even bother to show interest in electric playmakers like Derrick Henry. Owner Jerry Jones said “all-in” meant keeping core players. However, he let Smith walk for a higher offer.

The Cowboys will look to the draft to replenish holes on the offensive line and at running back. They added a key swing tackle from last season who should help a team in transition.

The Cowboys are set to re-sign Chuma Edoga

According to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, the Cowboys are set to sign Chuma Edoga to a one-year deal. He can play at guard or tackle.

Edoga started in six games for the Cowboys last season

Edoga was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 before signing with the Cowboys in 2023.

Per Pro Football Focus, Edoga earned a 61.4 grade for his play last season. He played 312 snaps at left tackle and 101 snaps at left guard (he was also used as a tight end for six snaps). Edoga gave up three sacks in 251 pass-blocking snaps. He committed three penalties.

He started six games for the Cowboys last season and has made 12 starts in his NFL career. He will provide some stability to an offensive line that is planning to shuffle some pieces around this offseason. The Cowboys are expected to explore moving Tyler Smith to left tackle. The team also needs interior offensive line help after losing Tyler Biadasz to the Washington Commanders.
