Commanders will work out long snappers after Cheeseman struggles continue

The Washington Commanders are addressing their long snapping problem. According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Washington will work out multiple long snappers on Tuesday as Camaron Cheeseman’s struggles continue.

Sunday, a low snap from Cheeseman contributed to Commanders kicker Joey Slye missing a 49-yard field goal attempt on the game’s opening drive against the Denver Broncos.

Cheeseman drew concerns with multiple low snaps in the preseason. He did it again in Washington’s Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Last week, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera expressed his angst.

“Well, it is a concern more than anything else,” Rivera said, per Ben Standig of The Athletic. “And so we’ll just continue to have Camaron snap and until, unfortunately, something happens. Then we’ll decide from there.”

Rivera said they were handling the situation, but as long as the field goals are good they’ll let Cheeseman work through it. Yet, another low snap happened in Denver. This time, Slye missed. Holder/punter Tress Way couldn’t dig the ball in time for Slye to get a clean kick.

With a missed field goal, Camaron Cheeseman, a sixth-round pick in 2021, may be on the chopping block.

Washington is 2-0 on the season, winning both games by six points combined. Every point counts, particularly with a young quarterback.

Tucker Addington and veteran Jake McQuaide are two long snappers confirmed for Washington’s workouts on Tuesday.
